About Chateau Mont Redon
Château Mont-Redon is a historic winery located in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation of France's Rhône Valley. The estate's viticultural roots trace back to Roman times, with official vineyard records dating to 1344 when it was known as Mourredon. In 1923, Henri Plantin acquired the property, then comprising only 2.5 hectares of vines, and played a pivotal role in expanding it and shaping the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. Today, the estate spans approximately 100 hectares, making it one of the largest in the region. The vineyards are situated on the Mont-Redon plateau, characterized by its distinctive galets roulés (rounded stones) over clay soils, contributing to the complexity of their wines. Currently, the estate is managed by the fourth generation of the Plantin family, including Pierre Fabre, who continue the legacy of producing esteemed Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines.
