About Chateau Lapinesse
Château Lapinesse is a dessert wine producer in the Sauternes region of Bordeaux, France, best known for its sweet, botrytised wines made primarily from Semillon grapes. The estate’s Sauternes (often offered in 375 ml half-bottles) comes from vineyards in Barsac/Sauternes, where the unique climatic conditions — morning mist from the Ciron and warmer afternoon sun — favour the development of noble rot (Botrytis cinerea), concentrating sugars and flavours in the grapes. The wines are traditionally hand-harvested with multiple passes to select only perfectly botrytised fruit, vinified carefully to retain freshness, and typically show aromatic citrus and stone-fruit character with balancing acidity and minerality. Château Lapinesse is part of Vignobles Siozard, a family-run domaine (with twin brothers Laurent and David Siozard at the helm) that has embraced sustainable and increasingly organic viticulture in its Bordeaux holdings. In the glass, Lapinesse Sauternes delivers the lush, fruity sweetness characteristic of the appellation at an accessible price point, making it a good introduction to Sauternes alongside iconic examples from the region.
